he decision is a major blow for Airbus, which has been desperately trying to promote the aircraft. The SIA move sends a highly unwelcome signal to the market: one of the world’s most famous airlines has doubts about the aircraft’s viability in its network.

However, SIA has another five A380s on firm order which are due to arrive from late next year. The airline says these orders will not be deferred. Also, SIA technically only decided not to keep one of the aircraft, even though it is likely the four others will also be returned to their owners – Dr. Peters Group and Doric.
