AENA condena a Cuatro Vientos a convertirse en helipuerto

Entre los objetivos que el plan de esta empresa estatal tiene en estudio para Cuatro Vientos se encuentra "potenciar el desarrollo de la aviación de alas giratorias", es decir de los helicópteros. La empresa cree que en estas instalaciones se podría construir una industria aeronáutica auxiliar. Hace años ya había un importante número de empresas auxiliares alrededor de la pista, pero las diversas crisis económicas se han llevado por delante este tejido industrial. Igualmente, AENA pretende que Cuatro Vientos se convierta en un helipuerto que tenga gran presencia institucional.

X3 makes aviation history reaching 255 knots during level flight (Press release from Eurocopter, 11 June 2013)


 

The X3 reached 255 knots (472 km/h) in level flight on June 7, 2013, surpassing the unofficial speed record for a helicopter. Eurocopter achieved this historic milestone with the X3 flying at an altitude of 10,000 feet (3,048 meters) during a 40-minute test flight over southern France near Istres. Several days before, the X3 reached a speed of 263 knots (487 km/h) during a descent. This latest success completes the growing list of achievements for the X3.

 

"The X3 exhibited outstanding stability and provided a low vibration level without any antivibrationn system," said test pilot Hervé Jammayrac. "It's no exaggeration to say that the X3 is clearly in its element at high speeds."

 

With these latest flight milestones, the X3 demonstrator has accumulated a combined total of more than 140 hours aloft since making its maiden takeoff in September 2010. After easily surpassing the initial target of 220 knots, the demonstrator's speed was steadily increased while confirming the hybrid configuration's excellent flight qualities, maneuverability, outstanding acceleration and deceleration. In reaching these latest 255- and 263-knot speed achievements, Eurocopter has further confirmed the concept's potential.

 

A wide range of potential applications is envisioned for the X3, including in long-distance search and rescue (SAR) operations, coast guard missions, border patrol flights, passenger transport and off-shore airlift, inter-city shuttle services, and a range of military missions such as special forces operations, troop transport, combat SAR and medical evacuation.

 

"Based on the X3 technologies, Eurocopter will continue setting the standards on future helicopters – offering our customers new levels of performance in terms of speed, range and mission capabilities at competitive costs," said CEO of Eurocopter, Guillaume Faury. "The outstanding X3 achievements result from the commitment and excellence of our teams. I want to recognize everyone involved in the demonstrator's development."

El X3 alcanzó, el pasado 7 de junio de 2013, los 255 nudos (472 Km/h) en vuelo nivelado, sobrepasando así el récord no oficial de velocidad de un helicóptero. Eurocopter ha alcanzado esta histórica marca con el X3, a una altura de 10.000 pies (3.048 metros) durante un vuelo que duró 40 minutos efectuado en el sur de Francia, cerca de Istres. Algunos días antes de este vuelo, el X3 ya había alcanzado una velocidad de 263 nudos en descenso (487 Km/h). Estos últimos éxitos se añaden a la larga lista de logros que ya ha obtenido el X3.

 

"El X3 ha demostrado una extraordinaria estabilidad y un nivel de vibraciones realmente bajo, sin haber utilizado el sistema antivibraciones. No es exagerado decir que volando a gran velocidad el X3 se encuentra en su elemento", explicó Hervé Jammayrac, piloto de pruebas de Eurocopter.


Con estos últimos hitos, el demostrador X3 acumula en total más de 140 horas de vuelo desde su primer despegue, efectuado en septiembre de 2010. Tras haber superado fácilmente el objetivo de los 220 nudos fijado inicialmente, la velocidad del X3 se ha ido incrementando paulatinamente, confirmando así las excelentes cualidades de vuelo, la maniobrabilidad y las impresionantes características de aceleración y desaceleración de esta configuración híbrida. Con los 255 y 263 nudos desarrollados en estas pruebas, Eurocopter corrobora el potencial de este concepto.

 

Se prevé que el X3 pueda realizar una amplia gama de operaciones como misiones de búsqueda y salvamento (SAR) a larga distancia, misiones de guardia costera, vuelos de patrullas fronterizas, transportes de pasajeros y operaciones en alta mar; servicios de lanzadera entre ciudades, aparte de una serie de misiones militares en el marco de operaciones de fuerzas especiales, transporte de tropas, SAR en combate y evacuación sanitaria.

rescatado del banco de arena en el que se encontraba.
El Museo de la RAF informa que esperan tener restaurado y
en exposición el Do-17 para 2018.
Tras algunos intentos infructuosos de rescatar el avión,
finalmente ayer día 10 de junio de 2013 lograron extraer
con éxito el avión del lecho de arena donde descansaba
desde la Segunda Guerra Mundial.

Vídeos: J-15 y F-35B en acción



Estos dos son los dos cazas navales que más están dando últimamente que hablar a la prensa especializada.



Más o menos recordaréis que China compró un portaaviones a Ucrania y que lo desmontó entero, y no solo le hizo una Gran Carena, si no que renovó todos los equipos, instrumentos... Además allá por el 2010 dio a concer su J-15, su Flanker naval. En Sandglass hablamos de sus primeros apontajes y difundimos fotos en varias ocasiones. Y ahora la Armada China anuncia que por fin su primera unidad de caza naval está operativa.



El F-35B ha estado en el candelero últimamente por haber realizado su primer despegue vertical, porque los Marines dicen que estará operativo para 2015, que hackers chinos han tenido acceso a información sobre él, o que los retrasos del programa harán que los AV-8B Harrier se jubilen en 2030 en lugar de en 2027.

Northrop Grumman's F-35 Supplier in Israel Delivers First Advanced Composite Component From Foreign Military Sales Country



Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) supplier in Israel – Elbit Systems-Cyclone – delivered its first advanced composite component for the F-35 Lightning II joint strike fighter center fuselage produced by Northrop Grumman. This delivery is a significant milestone for the F-35 program, as it is the first composite part manufactured by a country committed to purchasing future F-35s under the U.S. foreign military sales agreement.

The composite component delivered is one of 16 unique parts to be manufactured by Elbit Systems-Cyclone under a seven-year F-35 agreement with Northrop Grumman, which was signed in December 2011.

"We're anticipating receiving more than 50 component deliveries from Cyclone this year, so this is a great start and shows Cyclone's commitment to the program," said Michelle Scarpella, vice president of the F-35 program for Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems. "With the first delivery under its belt, Cyclone has demonstrated that it is equipped and qualified to manufacture and deliver quality composite parts for the joint strike fighter aircraft, 19 of which Israel has committed to purchasing."

As a principal member of the Lockheed Martin-led F-35 industry team, Northrop Grumman performs a significant share of the work required to develop and produce the aircraft. In addition to manufacturing the F-35 center fuselage, Northrop Grumman designed and produces the aircraft's radar and other key avionics including electro-optical and communications, navigation and identification subsystems. Northrop Grumman also develops mission systems and mission-planning software, leads the team's development of pilot and maintenance training system courseware, and manages the team's use, support and maintenance of low-observable technologies. Su-35S gets ready for the le Bourget air show in France



Training flights of the Su-35S take place these days at the Zhukovsky airfield at the M.M.Gromov Flight Research Institute in preparation for participation in the le Bourget-2013 International Air Show. The Honored test pilot of the Russian Federation, the Hero of Russia Sergey Bogdan works on two sets of aerobatics - for normal and complex weather conditions. Participants and visitors of the largest exhibition of the world aircraft industry achievements will be able to watch such a complex and spectacular flight figures as spatial barrels, somersaults, a flat spin, and, of course, the famous "Pugachev's Cobra".

Next week, upon completion of test flights, the aircraft will fly to France to continue getting ready for the flight program of the air show.

The newest multirole Su-35S fighter will be presented for the first time in a foreign air show. Its premiere flight program was held at the MAKS-2009 air show in Russia.

Su-35S is a deeply modernized super-maneuverable multirole fighter of the "4 + +" generation. The applied technologies of the 5th generation provide for the superiority of Su-35S aircraft over similar class fighters. The aircraft has a much better flight characteristics compared with standing analog fighters and more perfect on-board avionics. Aircraft characteristics exceed all European tactical fighters of the 4th and "4 +" generation like Rafale and Eurofighter 2000, as well as upgraded American fighters such as F-15, F-16 and F-18. Su-35S can also successfully counter the 5thgeneration fighters - F-35 and F-22A. This aircraft, in particular, is the fastest (2,400 km/h at an altitude of 11 km) fighter, it has a higher thrust, it also has an almost two-fold benefit to the modern French (Rafale) and Swedish (Gripen) fighters in the flight range (without suspension tanks - 3600 km). The Gripen NG aircraft, for example, has only one engine, so it has a smaller combat survivability and reliability. The American F/A-18 fighter is inferior to the Russian Su-35S in the flight altitude.

Boeing Schedules 787 Dreamliner Pair for Paris Air Show

CHICAGO, June 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- A pair of superefficient 787 Dreamliners will be the featured Boeing products on display at the Paris Air Show, which begins June 17 at the Le Bourget exhibition center.
One 787 will perform daily flying displays from Monday through Friday, while the other – a Qatar Airways 787 – will be on static display. The Boeing ScanEagle unmanned aircraft system will appear as part of the U.S. Corral display throughout the show.

Planes powered by body heat, luggage floating on a bed of air and even aircraft running on cow power (methane gas) - these are just some of the revolutionary ideas, developed by students from universities across the world, that could one day feature on the aircraft of the future.


These disruptive aviation concepts have been created for Fly Your Ideas, a global competition run by Airbus – and supported by UNESCO – designed to inspire new talent and ensure a sustainable future for the industry. The global aircraft manufacturer challenged students to develop radical eco-efficient ideas for aviation with five finalist teams selected by Airbus from a global pool of creative, engineering and design talent.


Each team will now travel to Airbus headquarters in Toulouse to compete for the €30,000 prize and present their future-gazing ideas to a panel of judges. The shortlisted concepts are:


Luggage floating on air – submitted by Team Levar from Brazil


•Using the principles of air hockey, the cargo hold is retro-fitted with super-light sliding sections to enable workers to quickly, easily and safely load and unload luggage


•Passengers could get their bags 30% faster and can start their holidays sooner


Planes powered by cow power – submitted by Team CLiMA from Australia


•A sustainable fuel solution puts liquefied methane to use in specially-created supercooled pods that sit next to the engines


•The solution could reduce CO2 emissions by a remarkable 97%


Shape shifting materials that help reduce noise – submitted by Team AVAS from India


•A simple engine modification made from special shape-shifting materials can change airflow through the engine and reduce noise pollution


Battery-powered hybrid engines – submitted by Team Flybrid from Italy


•Specially-shaped rechargeable batteries drop into the cargo hold, helping to power efficient hybrid engines – only the required number of batteries are loaded dependent on mileage, optimizing the plane’s weight.


•In a short-haul flight, this solution could save up to 60% of fuel, which reduces up to 40% of CO2 emissions


Human body heat powering cabins – submitted by Team Embarker from Malaysia


•Even a resting human body can be efficient – heat energy from specially-embedded heat-sensitive material in cabin seats captures energy from passengers


•This energy could be used for onboard electronics, reducing the energy requirements for the flight


Though the idea that cows could provide the fuel to fly you from London to New York – or that noise reduction could be achieved through shape-shifting engines – may seem far-fetched, the existence of these concepts could be not too far away at all.

Such innovation may also be under threat from a skills gap that could be hitting the economy hard. It will see high tech companies face a shortfall of 40 million of the skilled workers needed by 2020 and beyond, with aerospace likely to suffer, along with motor and the medical equipment sectors.i


Dr Lidia Brito, Director of the Division of Science Policy and Capacity Building at UNESCO, says: “If we can’t find ways to inspire a generation of engineers with varied skills, this is going to be a principle obstacle for growth in our slowly recovering global economy. A recent UNESCO Engineering Report shows a marked shortage of engineers in many countries. Although the general number of engineering students is increasing worldwide, the proportion who enroll in engineering, as compared to other disciplines, is concernedly dropping. We need hands-on challenges like Fly Your Ideas to motivate young innovators about the potential of engineering in helping to find practical solutions to issues the world may face in the near future.”


Airbus Fly Your Ideas aims to highlight the growth opportunities available to young innovators, who could help change the world and work towards a more sustainable aviation industry, both now and in the future.


In Fly Your Ideas 2013, students not only have an Airbus mentor to support the overall direction of their project but have also been assigned an Airbus expert in their chosen field. It means valuable insight into the opportunities in an industry that today supports over 56 million jobs; 35% of world trade; and US$2.2 trillion in global GDP. The international higher education community can benefit, too, with the potential to identify opportunities for further research and development.

The previous contest (2011) drew entries from more than 2,600 students representing 287 universities and 75 countries. ‘Team Wings of Phoenix’ from China’s Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics won with their ground-based wind power generation system that exploits the wakes of aircraft during take-off and landing.
