General Dynamics anunció que perdió 332 millones de dólares en 2012, frente a los beneficios de 2.526 millones de 2011, debido al menor gasto en el sector de la defensa a nivel internacional. La compañía obtuvo unos ingresos anuales de 31.513 millones (un 3,6 % inferiores a los de 2011), y registró unas pérdidas de 0,94 dólares por acción, frente a las ganancias de 6,94 dólares de 2011. Además, registró un aumento de gastos anuales del 6,3 % hasta 30.680 millones de dólares.

Cebu Pacific Air takes delivery of its first A320 with Sharklets
Cebu Pacific Air took delivery of its first A320 equipped with Sharklets today during a ceremony in Manila, becoming the first operator of the new fuel-saving wing tip devices in the Philippines.
Sharklets are newly designed wing-tip devices allowing airlines to reduce fuel burn by up to 4% on longer sectors. They are an option on new-build A320 Family aircraft, and are standard on all members of the A320neo Family. Cebu Pacific Air today operates 34 A320 Family aircraft, and has 48 more on order for future delivery, comprising 18 A320ceo and 30 A321neo.
“In line with our strategy to operate the youngest, most-modern fleet possible, we are delighted to become one of the first airlines in the world to introduce the A320 with Sharklets”, said Lance Gokongwei, CEB President and CEO. “Thanks to the four-percent fuel savings offered by the Sharklets, we will further benefit from the A320 Family’s unbeatable operating costs, making sure we remain competitive by offering low fares, together with the most extensive route network, to our passengers.”
“Cebu Pacific is one of the great success stories in the Asian low cost market,” said John Leahy, Chief Operating Officer, Customers, Airbus. “The additional economic and environmental efficiencies offered by the Sharklet-fitted version of the A320 will enable the airline to benefit from even lower operating costs and further enhance its competitive position in the fast-growing Asian market.”
Sharklets are made from light-weight composites and are 2.4 meters tall. Cutting airlines’ fuel bills by around four percent, Sharklets offer the flexibility to A320 Family operators of either adding around 100 nautical miles more range or allowing increased payload capability of up to 450 kilogrammes.
The A320 Family is the world’s best-selling and most modern single aisle aircraft Family. To date, over 9,000 aircraft have been ordered and over 5,400 delivered to more than 380 customers and operators worldwide.

Embraer Signs a USD 1.5 Billion Contract with Aldus Aviation for up to 35 E-Jets
Embraer has signed a contract with Aldus Aviation Limited, the Irish lessor, for the sale of 20 E-Jets, five EMBRAER 175 and 15 EMBRAER 190. The contract also includes 15 purchase rights for any E-Jet family model. The deal can reach a total of USD 1.56 billion, in 2012 economics conditions. The firm orders are already included in Embraer’s 2012 fourth quarter backlog, where it was listed as “undisclosed” customer.

Eurocopter admits it will miss EC225 deadline
Eurocopter has finally admitted it cannot meet its self-imposed end-February deadline to return the global EC225 fleet to unrestricted service as it has been unable to identify the root cause of two North Sea ditchings in 2012.
The airframer's chief executive Lutz Bertling made the promise to an oil and gas industry forum in November. However, the manufacturer has now revealed its tests on the main gearbox bevel gear vertical shaft - the component that cracked in both incidents - have failed to produce any concrete answers.
Although it says it has been trying to identify a "most probable root cause" for the issue, it admits "thisEurocopter assumption has not been proven by tests".

T-50-4 made the first flight from Komsomolsk-on-Amur to Zhukovsky
Today the fourth flight model of the prospective 5th-generation fighter aircraft (PAK-FA T-50) came to the airport of the M.M.Gromov Flight Research Institute in Zhukovsky near Moscow. The flight of the aircraft was performed for the first time with several intermediate stops from Komsomolsk-on-Amur, production location of these aircraft at the Y.A.Gagarin (KnAAZ) aviation plant. The T-50-4 was piloted by the Distinguished test pilot of the Russian Federation, the Hero of Russia Sergey Bogdan. The aircraft performed well during the flight. There were no reprimands on the performance of engines, systems or equipment.
The first flight of the T-50-4 took place at the airfield "Dzemgi" of Komsomolsk-on-Amur on December 12 last year and lasted forty minutes. The flight was successful and in full accordance with the flight plan.
The first flight of the T-50 fighter took place on January 29, 2010. At present, the work is going on a whole range of ground and flight tests of three aircraft. Soon the T-50-4 fighter will join the tests. To date more than 200 flights were carried out under the flight test program.
The 5th-generation fighter tests are carried out under the task set by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to modernize the Russian Armed Forces and deliver modern aircraft. This work is in the framework of the State Defense Order implementation, which is coordinated by the Military-Industrial Commission. Its chairman, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, today congratulated President of the United Aircraft Corporation Mikhail Pogosyan on the first long-distance flight of T-50-4.

A ceremony was held on January 15th in Beijing, where the President of Beijing Capital Helicopter, Mr. Xu Li Dong, accepted the Eurocopter EC135 P2+. Beijing Capital Helicopter will begin operating the new helicopter during the upcoming Lunar New Year holidays, offering aerial tours over selected tourist attractions. This brand new light, twin-engine helicopter joins Beijing Capital Helicopter’s current fleet of five Eurocopter AS350 B3 Squirrels. Incidentally, they are the largest operator of this helicopter type in China.

New Airbus aircraft list prices for 2013
Airbus has increased the average list prices of its aircraft by 3.6 per cent. The new pricing is effective from January 1st 2013. The 3.6 per cent price increase has been calculated according to Airbus’ standard escalation formula over the January 2012 to January 2013 period.
“Our new pricing reaffirms the value of our modern, fuel-efficient aircraft,” said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers. “Our products consistently help our customers cut their operating costs and reduce their environmental footprint.”

Airbus supera su objetivo de pedidos y establece nuevos records de entregas de la compañía
Continúa la abrumadora preferencia del mercado por el NEO
Airbus estableció un nuevo record de entregas de 588 aviones a 89 clientes (17 de ellos nuevos) y superó su objetivo de 650 órdenes al conseguir 914 pedidos brutos. Estos incluyen 305 CEO, 478 NEO, 82 A330/A340, 40 A350 XWB y nueve A380. Los pedidos pendientes de entrega de Airbus marcan un nuevo record en la industria con 4.682 aviones, valorados en 638.000 millones de dólares.
Las entregas fueron superiores en un 10% a la marca del año 2011 (534), siendo 2012 el undécimo año consecutivo con aumento de producción. En la categoría de pasillo único, Airbus logró un nuevo record de 455 entregas (421 en 2011). En fuselaje ancho, las entregas alcanzaron la cifra record de 103 aviones (87 en 2011), destacando el éxito de la familia A330 que ha alcanzado la máxima cadencia de producción mensual de su historia (9,5 en 2012, ascendiendo a 10 en la primavera de 2013). La cifra de 30 entregas del A380 supone también una nueva marca para este modelo (26 en 2011).
La cuota de Airbus en ventas totales de aviones (de más de 100 plazas) según su valor es del 41% bruto (41,5% neto) en 2012. Los pedidos netos llegaron hasta los 833 aviones, por un valor de 96.000 millones de dólares. Aquí están incluidos 739 aviones de la familia A320, superando Airbus de este modo las 9.000 órdenes de aviones de pasillo único. De ellos, 478 son NEO, confirmando su supremacía desde su lanzamiento, con más del 62% del mercado. En el segmento de cabina ancha se pidieron 58 A330 y 27 A350 XWB. El A350-1000 recibió importantes apoyos de aerolíneas de primer nivel con una significativa conversión de pedidos a este modelo. En la categoría de aviones gran tamaño, Airbus consiguió nueve de cada diez pedidos, demostrando las preferencias del mercado por el A380.
En 2012, el A350 XWB avanzó según lo esperado. La línea de ensamblaje final pasó a ser plenamente operativa, fue completado el ensamblaje estructural del primer A350 XWB que se pondrá en vuelo, y la primera “puesta en marcha” del avión se llevó a cabo con éxito.
Airbus Military tuvo un año muy satisfactorio, con 29 aviones entregados (20 transportes militares medios y ligeros, 4 conversiones de P-3 y cinco A330 MRTT). Se superó el objetivo de pedidos pese a las difíciles condiciones a nivel global, llegando hasta los 32 (28 C295 y 4 CN235). Además, el A330 MRTT fue seleccionado como opción preferida por el gobierno de la India.
El A400M también progresó según lo previsto, con la finalización de las 300 horas de tests de Función y Fiabilidad de cara a la obtención de certificación tipo completa en el primer trimestre de 2013, con la primera entrega prevista en la primera mitad del año y cuatro más hasta el final del mismo. Actualmente hay cuatro A400M en su fase final de ensamblaje y otros 13 en producción. Los pedidos militares pendientes de entrega se mantienen en 220 (174 A400M, 17 MRTT, cinco CN235, 20 C295, y cuatro P-3).
Airbus contrató a 5.000 nuevos empleados en 2012, elevando la cifra global de empleos hasta los 59.000, teniendo como objetivo para 2013 otros 3.000 más para mantener el desarrollo de todos sus programas.

NTSB official to assist ANA 787 investigation
The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is sending an official to Japan to assist in the investigation of the emergency landing of an All Nippon Airways (ANA) Boeing 787. The incident involved a battery indicator message while the aircraft was at 30,000 ft.; ANA said it was later discovered the aircraft’s main battery had leaked.
According to NTSB, “Initial reports indicate that the crew received multiple messages in the cockpit concerning the battery and other systems that were affected, and also reported smoke in the cockpit and an odor in the cabin.”
In the meantime, ANA and Japan Airlines (JAL) have temporarily suspended operations of their Boeing 787 fleets following the latest incident.
US-Europe alliance confirmed for Orion manned craft
NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA) have put more detail on their agreement for ESA to build the service module for NASA's Orion crew exploration vehiicle. The €450 deal involves ESA using heritage ATV hardware to construct the service module that will allow crew to travel to and from cis-lunar space. This will be part of a barter arrangement in which its fees ESA owned NASA for ESA's use of the International Space Station will be waived.

El tercer lote de aparatos más las piezas de recambio y el equipamiento asociados, así como los sistemas de formación y apoyo sobre el terreno se suministrarán a partir de finales de 2013.

ANA grounds 787 after emergency landing | ATWOnline
All Nippon Airways (ANA) has grounded its
Boeing 787 fleet after one of its aircraft
made an emergency landing at Takamatsu
airport, the BBC and other news agencies
have reported.
It also reported that the flight crew had
reported a battery malfunction and that
passengers were evacuated via the aircraft's
emergnecy chutes.
According to a Reuters report, smoke
appeared in the aircraft's cockpit.

Citilink orders 25 Airbus A320neo
Citilink, the low cost subsidiary of Garuda Indonesia has placed a firm order with Airbus for 25 A320neo. The contract, signed in December 2012, represents the first direct purchase by Citilink from Airbus. It follows an order placed in 2011 by Garuda Indonesia for 15 A320ceo and 10 A320neo aircraft for operation by Citilink.
Citilink already operates a fleet of 12 leased A320s on its fast growing domestic network.
“The A320 has played a key role in the recent success of Citilink” said Mr. Arif Wibowo, Chief Executive Officer of Citilink. “The low operating costs, fast turnaround times and strong passenger appeal of the A320 make it perfect for our operation and we are looking forward to the even greater efficiencies that will come with the NEO”
"We are pleased to welcome Citilink as a new customer of Airbus,” said John Leahy, Chief Operating Officer, Customers, Airbus. “The order underscores the A320 Family’s position as the preferred choice for full service and low cost carriers worldwide, both with the current and new engine options.”
Incorporating new engines and large "Sharklet" wing tip devices, the A320neo Family will deliver fuel savings of 15 percent. The reduction in fuel burn is equivalent to 1.4 million litres of fuel - the consumption of 1,000 mid size cars, saving 3,600 tonnes of C02 per aircraft per year. In addition, the A320neo Family will provide a double-digit reduction in NOx emissions and reduced engine noise.
With close to 8,900 aircraft ordered and over 5,300 aircraft delivered to over 380 customers and operators worldwide, the A320 Family is the world's best-selling single-aisle aircraft family.

Commander D. Miguel Ángel Roqué de Santiago became the first Spanish Air Force pilot to fly 1,000 hours in the Eurofighter aircraft during an air defence training sortie over the Alboran Sea.
Commander Roqué, a native of Calahorra (La Rioja), arrived in the 11th Wing on the Morón Air Base (Seville) in January 2006 and has served in both the 111 and 113 Squadrons for more than four years as a flight instructor for the conversion of pilots to the Eurofighter.
Pilar Albiac, COO of Cassidian and CEO of Cassidian Spain, said: “Sincere congratulations on behalf of myself and the whole team at Cassidian to the Spanish Air Force for having achieved this new milestone, which demonstrates the maturity and operating level that has been reached with the Eurofighter. BOC Aviation orders 50 A320 Family aircraft, including 25 NEO
BOC Aviation, the Singapore-based aircraft leasing subsidiary of Bank of China, has placed a new firm order, signed in December 2012, for the purchase of 50 A320 Family aircraft including 25 NEOs. The order comprises A320 and A321 variants of both engine options. BOC Aviation will make its engine selection for the aircraft at a later date.
BOC Aviation last placed an order for A320ceo Family aircraft in 2010. This order for A320neo Family aircraft will be its first for the new engine option. As an investor in aircraft, the Company seeks fuel-efficient aircraft that have a wide operator base and this order will further contribute to its growth.
"Airbus’ popular A320 and A321 aircraft with the current engine option are outstanding aircraft for airlines focusing on operational efficiency who want to offer their passengers a superior short to medium haul travel experience,” said Robert Martin, BOC Aviation’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. “The A320neo Family order reinforces our commitment to be a key player in the leasing industry as we make the latest eco-efficient aircraft available to our customers.”

BOC Aviation has also been growing its Airbus fleet through purchase and leaseback transactions with airlines. To date, BOC Aviation has successfully placed Airbus aircraft with over 40 airlines worldwide. BOC Aviation is the largest Asia-based aircraft leasing company and will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
The A320neo will enter into service from late 2015, followed by the A319neo and A321neo in 2016. The A320neo Family incorporates latest generation engines and large Sharklet wing-tip devices, which together will deliver up to 15 percent in fuel savings which is equivalent to 1.4 million litres of fuel - the consumption of 1,000 mid size cars, saving 3,600 tons of C02 per aircraft per year.
