Safran Aircraft Engines entrusts a new component of LEAP 1B powerplant to Aciturri

https://www.aciturri.com/en/press-media/news/safran-aircraft-leap-1b

Safran Aircraft Engines has confirmed to Aciturri Aeroengines the commissioning of the Housing Bearing (HB5) of the LEAP 1B engine, the exclusive powerplant for the new 737 MAX single-aisle jetliner.

The component is similar to the HB5 of LEAP 1A, for which we are currently suppliers, and fulfills the same function, although it presents additional complexities.

The production, in which Safran and Aciturri teams have already started working, will reach its maximum level in the second half of 2019 and will take place in our Ircio facilities, where Aeroengines has the machining technology and capabilities of integration needed to address this new project.

The joint forecast demand for HB5 of LEAP 1A and 1B will also require new investments to reinforce Ircio's machining capacity, which we will undertake in 2019 and 2020.

This new contract consolidates the positioning of Aeroengines as a supplier of Safran Aircraft Engines and confirms the customer's confidence in Aciturri the production of critical components.
