El proyecto de avión 100% eléctrico liderado por Volotea, Air Nostrum y Dante Aeronautical da un paso más hacia el futuro de una aviación sin emisiones. Este avión será fundamental para un transporte aéreo regional de cero emisiones, ya que permitirá habilitar conexiones entre pequeños centros de población gracias a sus reducidos costes operativos comparables a los de aviones mucho más grandes.

Los primeros planos e imágenes del que será el primer prototipo de avión 100% eléctrico muestran que la consecución de aeronaves más sostenibles está más cerca de ser una realidad. De hecho, el consorcio prevé que en tres años este primer prototipo esté certificado para volar, lo que supondría un hito en el sector aeronáutico.

La colaboración de los dos grandes operadores aéreos y Dante Aeronautical con compañías de inteligencia artificial, como DataBeaco y de ingeniería e innovación tecnológica en el sector de la aeronáutica, como la multinacional española CT; así como con Organismos Públicos de Investigación (OPI) como Cidaut, la Fundación para la Investigación y Desarrollo en Transporte y Energía o Cidetec, centro de investigación especializado en el almacenamiento de energía; representa un ejemplo de apuesta por la innovación tecnológica y de compromiso con la sostenibilidad.

"Empezamos nuestra colaboración con Dante Aeronautical en 2019 y estamos muy orgullosos de ver cómo el proyecto ha crecido y ganado impulso con el apoyo de nuevos socios, incluidas varias empresas de tecnología españolas. El desarrollo de una aeronave eléctrica que utilice tecnología de baterías de hidrógeno reducirá las emisiones de carbono. Tiene mucho sentido que Volotea apoye este proyecto, ya que está completamente en línea con nuestro objetivo de conectar ciudades desatendidas y hacerlo de manera más sostenible", ha señalado Carlos Muñoz, fundador y CEO de Volotea.

Carlos Bertomeu, presidente de Air Nostrum, por su parte, destacó que la aerolínea valenciana está acostumbrada a trabajar con pymes e instituciones. "Los resultados avalan las colaboraciones de Air Nostrum con startup tecnológicas y universidades en el camino de la eficiencia y la mejora del servicio al pasajero", señaló. "Era evidente que Air Nostrum, como aerolínea regional de referencia, tenía cosas que aportar a un proyecto tan ilusionante como este, especialmente en un ámbito como el de la sostenibilidad en el que llevamos trabajando muchos años", concluyó.

Miguel Madinabeitia, cofundador de Dante Aeronautical, pone en valor el acuerdo alcanzado: "Para Dante Aeronautical ampliar el consorcio firmado a otras firmas tecnológicas con gran carácter innovador solo puede reforzar nuestro plan de desarrollo de una aviación 100% eléctrica, que revolucione los conceptos de la actual, y nos impulse hacia un transporte más sostenible y limpio". "Este proyecto además se complementa perfectamente con nuestros esfuerzos en otras partes del mundo, como la iniciativa que tenemos en marcha en Australia para la electrificación de hidroaviones", comenta Madinabeitia.
