US Air Force Plans Drones with Commercially Available Components – UAS VISION
The drones are part of an effort to buy cheaper aircraft and field them faster using components already available through commercial vendors. The Air Force plans to buy 1,000 to 2,000 modular, unmanned drones to accompany its next generation of fighter planes.

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is pleased to announce the release of its guidelines to establish the noise levels of drones below 600 kg, which aim at providing harmonized procedures to measure the noise of drones used in the low and medium-risk operations of the 'specific' category.
This release expands on the initial public consultation phase, after collecting around 90 comments from UAS manufacturers, operators, academia and national aviation authorities.
In addition to the guidelines, EASA is also providing a template for a typical noise report that applicants or declarants can use to submit noise data, as well as a self-explanatory spreadsheet assisting the noise adjustment procedures.

BRITTEN-NORMAN GIVES GREEN LIGHT TO UK AEROSPACE MANUFACTURING - Britten-Norman
New manufacturing jigs are in place at Britten-Norman's Bembridge facility in preparation for production output increase
UK aircraft manufacturer Britten-Norman reveals plans to increase production rates and to repatriate aircraft production to its historic home in Bembridge on the Isle of Wight. The move is a major change for the British SME which has been manufacturing its aircraft in Eastern Europe since the late 1960s.
Australian 9th Sqn will be equipped with MQ4C Tritons, complementing Air Force’s P-8A Poseidon.
9 Squadron will reform in 92 Wing Surveillance and Response Group. The headquarters will be located at RAAF Base Edinburgh and most Triton operations will occur from RAAF Base Tindal.
Triton will form part of Australia's maritime intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capability, complementing Air Force's P-8A Poseidon.

Evidence for Large Increases in Clear‐Air Turbulence Over the Past Four Decades - Prosser - 2023 - Geophysical Research Letters - Wiley Online Library
Turbulence is unpleasant to fly through in an aircraft. Strong turbulence can even injure air passengers and flight attendants. An invisible form called clear-air turbulence (CAT) is predicted to become more frequent because of climate change. Here we analyze modern atmospheric data based on four decades of observations (1979–2020) to investigate whether CAT has already started to increase. We use 21 different turbulence calculations to ensure our results are as reliable as possible. We find clear evidence of large CAT increases in various places around the world at aircraft cruising altitudes since satellites began observing the atmosphere. For example, at a typical point over the North Atlantic, the upward trend is such that the strongest category of CAT was 55% more frequent in 2020 than 1979. Our study represents the best evidence yet that CAT has increased over the past four decades, consistent with the expected effects of climate change.
