Evrard points out that the landing gear for the -1000 is already different from the -900, and has upward weight potential in the tens of tons, so it would not be a hurdle. Evrard indicates that he does not see any technical issues that would be considered a serious technical show-stopper. "Others did it, we can certainly do it, too," he says, referring to Boeing's launch of the 787-10, a double-stretch of the 787-8.

Claro que recuperar rutas y aviones –la flota de Iberia ha perdido unos 50 aviones desde la fusión con British Airways y es ahora la cuarta aerolínea de España, lo que también ha afectado al aeropuerto de Barajas– y modernizar estos, aunque sólo fuera incorporando sharklets a los A320 probablemente sería más efectivo que un nuevo logo.

Iberia está de estreno. La compañía se viste hoy de gala para presentar su nueva imagen, en la que el color rojo resulta aún más protagonista y con la que Iberia quiere resaltar los valores que sirven de cimiento de la nueva Iberia, mucho más dinámica y centrada más que nunca en la satisfacción del cliente, una compañía en la que el talento y el empuje se destaquen en cada uno de los elementos que la componen.
La nueva imagen de Iberia es uno de los elementos más destacados y símbolo del plan de transformación que la compañía ha puesto en marcha hace unos meses, y contribuye de forma significativa al objetivo esencial de este plan de futuro de la compañía: lograr una Iberia fuerte, moderna, competitiva y protagonista en el sector aéreo. Iberia ha decidido lanzar la nueva marca en un momento en el que el plan de transformación de la compañía comienza a dar sus frutos.
El consejero delegado de Iberia, Luis Gallego, señaló hoy durante la presentación de la nueva imagen que "no se trata sólo de cambiar el logotipo de la compañía, sino que la nueva imagen va más allá, llegará a cada uno de los rincones de Iberia: el cambio se reconocerá en todos los productos que ofrecemos y en el servicio que prestamos a nuestros clientes".
La elaboración de la nueva estrategia de marca es fruto de un exhaustivo proceso de investigación en el que se ha recabado la opinión de cerca de 9.000 personas entre empleados y clientes, y que ha contado con un profundo análisis del sector. Ha sido un proceso interdisciplinar, en el que han participado varios departamentos de la compañía, que ha contado con el asesoramiento de Interbrand, consultora de marcas líder en el ámbito nacional e internacional.
Tomando como inspiración la cultura española y su influencia en el mundo, la nueva imagen busca construir un discurso expresivo, vitalista y relevante, reflejo del profundo cambio que se está llevando a cabo en Iberia.
Con la nueva imagen cobran protagonismo los colores de la bandera española, sobre todo el color rojo, símbolo de la vitalidad, expresividad, arte y carácter españoles. Además, se ha diseñado un nuevo símbolo que evoca las iniciales de la compañía y sugiere agilidad, dinamismo y confort. El nuevo universo de la marca, que incluye nuevas gráficas, tipografías, textiles, materiales, fotografías y pictogramas, entre otros, será implementado paulatinamente durante los próximos meses en todos los puntos de contacto de la aerolínea con sus clientes y empleados.
Un Airbus A330, primer avión con la nueva imagen
A mediados del próximo mes de noviembre comenzará a operar el primer avión con el nuevo logotipo de Iberia. Se trata del quinto Airbus A330 que recibe la compañía, equipado con las nuevas cabinas de Business y Turista, que son también una parte muy importante del proceso de transformación de Iberia.
Las nuevas cabinas de Business y Turista no solo serán visibles en los nuevos A330, sino que los Airbus A340-600 que opera la compañía también están siendo equipados con los nuevos interiores. La nueva experiencia de marca está presente en todos los elementos que incluyen las nuevas cabinas: los nuevos materiales, tejidos y diseño de las butacas, la luz ambiente, la carta de los menús y la de los vinos ofrecidos a bordo, el diseño del entretenimiento y el neceser, entre otras cosas.
Aprovechando el comienzo de operación del primer avión con la nueva imagen, Iberia presentará a mediados de noviembre la nueva marca y las nuevas cabinas en los hangares de la compañía en La Muñoza a periodistas, clientes y autoridades, que podrán así comprobar in situ los cambios llevados a cabo.
El cambio también se notará en todos los puntos de contacto de los empleados de Iberia con sus clientes, como son los puntos de atención al cliente, la facturación en los aeropuertos, las salas VIP, las tripulaciones o los centros de atención telefónica. Para ello se está llevando a cabo un proceso de cambio con el objetivo de formar a los empleados de la compañía en los nuevos valores y la nueva filosofía de Iberia, sin duda, uno de los retos más importantes de este proyecto. Los empleados de la compañía constituyen uno de los pilares del cambio de marca.
La nueva imagen ya tiene visibilidad en la nueva www.iberia.com, que se lanzó hace tan sólo tres meses y en la que destacan la rapidez de los procesos y la interacción con los clientes. La nueva web forma también parte del plan de futuro de Iberia, en el que destacan otras iniciativas como las puestas en marcha dentro del proyecto Ágora – facturación online de equipaje a través de MyBagTag o puntos de atención rápida, entre otros -.
