This note presents the results of the Research Assessment of Transitory Helicopter Downwash (RATHD) project.  RATHD was carried out by the Flight Operations department of the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in 2024.

RATHD had two objectives. A. Expanding knowledge of downwash and outwash at helicopter operating sites. B. Verification and Validation (V&V) of downwash simulations of eVTOL aircraft, called for in CAP2576.

Using full-scale trials and digital simulation RATHD shows how data from current flight operations can speed up safe innovation
