Electrotécnico de Artillería, en Madrid; la Fábrica Nacional de La

WICHITA, Kan., Dec. 18, 2009 - Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc.

Light Sport Aircraft during a ceremony at Yingling Aircraft in
Wichita, Kan. Yingling is one of three U.S. re-assembly facilities for
the Skycatcher.
As previously announced, Rose Pelton, wife of Cessna Chairman,
President and CEO Jack J. Pelton, received the first Skycatcher.
The Model 162 Skycatcher is a two-place, single-engine piston,
high-wing aircraft in the Light Sport Aircraft category, defined in
the United States as an aircraft with a maximum gross weight of 1,320
pounds and with a top speed of no more than 120 knots.
The 162 is powered by a Continental O-200D 100-hp air-cooled engine
and a fixed-pitch propeller. The aircraft will cruise at speeds up to
118 knots and will have a maximum range of 470 nautical miles. The
Cessna 162 Skycatcher features a Garmin G300 avionics system.
Information is presented in a single, split-screen primary flight
display (PFD) and multi-function display (MFD), or as two full-screen
displays with an optional second screen. The Skycatcher will be
capable of Visual Flight Rules/Day/Night operations.
Cessna, in association with King Schools, has also developed a new
Web-based training system for sport and private pilot certificates
that will be available through the Cessna Pilot Center network of
flight schools.
Cessna launched its Skycatcher program at AirVenture Oshkosh in 2007
and has since amassed more than 1,000 orders.
EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif., Dec. 18, 2009 -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] has
successfully completed the first phase of flight test for a B-1 bomber
upgraded with new digital avionics. The B-1 Fully Integrated Data Link
(FIDL) flight test plan for Phase 1 concluded Oct. 16; it included
nine sorties performed by the U.S. Air Force at Edwards Air Force
Base.
"This upgrade replaces 25-year-old avionics processing, displays and
keyboards," said Eric Vanderslice, B-1 FIDL program manager for
Boeing. "Those old systems have very limited functionality. It also
changes the configuration of the limited display space that helps the
crew perform the aircraft's mission. We are going from bulky
cathode-ray-tube screens to higher-functioning flat-panel displays,
giving crews more situational awareness and more space."
Phase 1 included observations of how the crew acclimated to the new
configuration; temperature and vibration tests on the new hardware;
and functionality tests of all the display-related software upgrades,
including the new moving maps. An 8-inch by 10-inch flat-panel display
shows a picture of the terrain below that changes as the aircraft
moves, much like a GPS system does in a car. B-1 crews will enter
their destination and flight path before departure in order for the
moving map to provide a continuously updated display of the route.
Now that Phase 1 testing is complete, the B-1 aircraft will go to
Tinker Air Force Base, Okla., for programmed depot maintenance. The
remaining software flight-test objectives (emphasizing data link
functionality) will be performed during Phase 2, which is scheduled to
begin at Edwards in April 2010 and run for 10 months. The Air Force is
expected to award a contract in November 2010 for the production of
FIDL installation kits for the service's entire B-1 fleet.

Russia's big An-124-100 Ruslan freighter appears closer to a new lease
on life, provided promised funding and commitments are forthcoming.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev recently approved a plan to restart
production of an upgraded An-124 version at the Aviastar-SP plant in
Ulyanovsk, under the responsibility of United Aircraft Corp. (UAC).
Known as the An-124-500, it would feature a glass cockpit for four
crewmembers and enhancements to the aircraft's Motor Sich D18-T
powerplant that would boost range and payload and double the
aircraft's operating life to 50,000 hr. Deliveries would begin by
2014-15.

LONG BEACH, Calif., Dec. 17, 2009 -- The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] and the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence this week announced an agreement for the acquisition of a seventh C-17 Globemaster III for the Royal Air Force (RAF). Boeing is scheduled to deliver the aircraft in December 2010.
"The RAF has an urgent need for additional airlift capability," said Robin Philip, Head of Commercial Air Support, UK Ministry of Defence. "We know firsthand the capabilities and reliability the C-17 brings to every mission, and that's why we're adding another one to our fleet."
The current UK fleet of six C-17s has logged more than 50,000 flight hours to date. The newest C-17, like the others, will operate out of RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, England, and provide critical airlift capability.

Three U.S. airlines and the Air Transport Association filed suit in a U.K. court Dec. 16 seeking to block implementation of Europe's greenhouse gas emissions trading scheme (ETS).
The suit was filed by ATA, Continental, American and United against the U.K. Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change. It is the first legal action brought by U.S airlines in a European court to halt the inclusion of international aviation in the ETS. "We brought this action in order to preserve our members' rights to challenge the implementation of the EU ETS as applied to aviation," said ATA spokeswoman Victoria Day.
A Singapore Airlines (SIA) Airbus A380 had to turn back to Paris on 16 December after the power went out in its galley.
While the fault did not pose a safety issue, the Singapore-bound aircraft was turned back to Paris two hours into the flight because food could not be served on board, says an SIA spokesman.

The Airbus A320 Family Final Assembly Line China (FALC) has achieved its 2009 target as the 11th A320 Family aircraft assembled by the FALC was delivered to Deer Air, an airline part of the HNA Group, on 16th December in Tianjin.
The first A320 assembled by the FALC was delivered to Sichuan Airlines via Dragon Aviation Leasing on 23rd June 2009. Since then, a total of six A320 and five A319 assembled by the FALC have been delivered and are now in operation with Sichuan Airlines, Deer Air, Shenzhen Airlines and China Eastern Airlines.

RAF fighters to be sacrificed to pay for war in Afghanistan

PS-90A2 is Russia's only fourth generation engine (although certain
experts reckon it among the "three plus" class). The Perm people
started developing it in the tough 1990s when the military industry

working capital they didn't manage to complete their work on time. As
a result, the Russian specialists only managed to demonstrate the
achievements of 1990s in the field of engine building at the end of
the first decade of the 21st century.

demonstrations using a company-owned MQ-8B Fire Scout tactical
Vertical Unmanned Aircraft System (VUAS). Fire Scout was equipped with
the Telephonics' radar and FLIR Electro Optical Infrared system, and
highlighted the versatility of the unmanned helicopter's modular
payload architecture and its flexibility in integrating off-the-shelf
payloads.
The demonstration was performed under a contract awarded in September
by ABS Group, a Systems Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA)
contractor for the U.S. Coast Guard Research and Development Center.
The test took take place during the week of October 19 in the
Chesapeake Bay conducted from the Naval Air Station at Patuxent River,
Md., Webster Outlying Field.
Following the maritime sensor demonstration, the Coast Guard
participated in a multiple day virtual exercise at the Northrop
Grumman Unmanned Systems Development Center in Rancho Bernardo, Calif.
The exercise took place in the company's simulation Cyber Warfare
Integration Node (CWIN). The simulation operated in a Coast Guard
configuration and generated counter narcotics operations from the
Coast Guard's National Security Cutter.

congratulated Boeing (BA.N) after its arch-rival completed a maiden
flight of the 787 Dreamliner on Tuesday and promised "robust"
competition from its own lightweight plane.

La Comisión Europea acaba de publicar una lista de 12 puntos que
contienen los principales derechos y algunas recomendaciones para los
viajeros.
1. Los viajeros cuyo vuelo se anule sin aviso previo o se retrase más
de cinco horas podrán reclamar la devolución de los costes o reclamar
un nuevo vuelo.
2. En caso de anulación o retraso, los viajeros tendrán derecho a
recibir atención así como, en algunos casos, a recibir una
compensación. La compañía de vuelo debe informar de sus derechos a
los pasajeros.
3. Si el equipaje resulta extraviado o dañado, los pasajeros podrán
recibir una compensación de hasta 1.223 euros (1.700 dólares).
4. En el caso de las reservas realizas en Internet, las compañías
aéreas deben mostrar el precio final de los vuelos de forma clara.
Deberán especificar claramente las tasas de vuelo aeroportuarias.
5. Los pasajeros sólo podrán trasportar una cantidad limitada de
líquidos en el equipaje de mano. Se permite portar un máximo de 100
mililitros de líquido en cada botella, tubo o frasco.
6. Antes de comprar sus billetes de vuelo para fuera de Europa, los
viajeros deben comprobar si la compañía de vuelo se encuentra en la
"lista negra" de la Unión Europea (UE).
7. Las personas discapacitadas y con movilidad reducida deben tener un
acceso libre de barreras a aviones y trenes. Además recibirán una
atención especial antes, durante y después del vuelo o
